Class Descriptions
Vinyasa Flow Yoga : Vinyasa Yoga is flowing yoga that unites the breath with movement creating a slow sort of dance. Often based on traditional Sun/Moon Salutations and variations, one may experience a blend of several styles of yoga in order to facilitate the free flow of prana (aka chi) throughout the body, mind, and spirit. This class is open to any level of yoga student though it does tend to be a bit more physically challenging.
Yoga for Kids: Kids Yoga uses stories and games to teach traditional yoga poses and techniques in a fun, entertaining, and educational way. Yoga for Children can help reduce stress, improve focus and relaxation, and gain overall physical strength and flexibility. It also provides excellent support for those with ADD and ADHD. Kids ages 4-10 are welcome!
Restore & Relax Yoga: Restorative Yoga is designed to relax and rejuvenate. This class educates on relaxation and stress-relief techniques such as deep breathing as well as incorporating passive stretching with the support of props. Restorative yoga has amazing benefits for all of the bodily systems, particularly the nervous system, and can also help relieve the symptoms of back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc. This class is open to all levels who would like to counteract the effects of stress. Please bring a firm blanket or cushion if you have one.

Stress Relief Flow Yoga: This is a Kripalu style yoga class that is great for the beginner level yoga student, but is open to students of all levels who just want to slow down, stretch, and breathe. Combining asanas with pranayama (postures with breathing techniques) in this class, you will flow through gentle sequences in order to free the flow of prana in the body.
Yin Yoga: Yin is the cooling, calming, emotional energy within us. It is a process of slowing down and resolving to be still in the body, in order to eventually still the mind. The intention is to hold postures in stillness for extended periods, which makes it a very meditative and emotionally freeing practice. As you hold the postures or "makahos", for up to 10 minutes, different meridians (aka nadis) are stretched, restored, and brought back to balance- in turn bringing the major systems of the body back to balance. Yin yoga can help to release emotions that are seated deep within the fascia or connective tissues of the body. It's Yoga's form of acupuncture, and the counter balance to our on-the-go Yang lifestyles. Yin Yoga also enhances the production of synovial fluid within the joints, great for those who experience any joint pain or swelling. When you have completed your practice, you leave feeling open, limber, and new.
Chair Yoga: This extra gentle class is great for those who may struggle with being down on the floor, or for anyone who wants to nourish and restore flexibility to the joints of the body. Using a chair for seated and standing exercises, one can receive all the benefits of yoga. There is something out there for EVERYONE, regardless of age, or physical limitations.
Yoga Nidra: Yoga Nidra translates as "yogic sleep" or "cosmic sleep." It is a practice of consciously relaxing the entire body, thereby making space for healing and regeneration to occur. This is a greatly restorative practice that will counteract all the effects of stress on the body, mind, and spirit as your brainwaves slow down and the parasympathetic nervous system kicks in. A 20 minute yoga nidra can be the equivalent to hours of sleep!
AM Yoga: An energizing way to start your day! Great for all Yoga students. Class incorporates strength and flexibility postures and exercises. Come and wake up with us!

Gentle Yoga with Weights: Come stretch and do some gentle strengthening! This class utilizes light weights to stretch and tone the body along with gentle Yoga postures and sequences; nothing crazy, but you will leave feeling stronger and more flexible. We will also use exercise balls and implement Power Yoga from time to time.
Yoga Dance: Yoga Dance is based on the Kripalu Yoga notion of meditation- in- motion, and began as a spiritual aerobics in the late 70s. Combining user-friendly dance movements, with some Kundalini and Hatha yoga, you move through the centers of energy known as the chakras, dancing them back into balance. Music ranges from world music, to motown, to whatever plucks your heart strings or makes you want to move! The intensity of the practice will be entirely up to the student; you always have complete freedom and do whatever feels good whenever your body asks you to. You NEVER have to follow the teacher or anyone else if you get swept up in your own dance! Lose your body armor and experience pure joy through movement.
If you have joint issues or back issues, you may want to wear supportive aerobic or tennis shoes. You may also practice in socks or bare feet.
Body Blast: is geared for people of all ages, and it will include techniques and exercises on maintaining muscle mass and bone density while getting the heart rate up. Circuit training will also be incorporated.
The Ab Lab: is dedicated to working the core for a good half hour.
