Darlene has been teaching yoga since 2007 and committed to it as her full-time career in 2013. She is 200-hour certified in the Anusara inspired tradition from Namaste Yoga Studio. Her style is nurturing, creative, and filled with life-giving hope and inspiration. Darlene stands for love and peace, and aims to embody and BE YOGA. In turn, she wants to cultivate more love and peace in the world and heal what has been broken for individuals, communities, and the earth. She has aligned her lifestyle and career with the principles and philosophies of yoga.
She has gleaned wisdom from many spiritual teachers including: Jack Kornfield, Thich Nhat Hanh, Marianne Williamson, Jesus, Joel Osteen, Wayne Dyer, Esther & Jerry Hicks, and Tony Evans to name a few. She enjoys teaching all ages and levels of ability and varies her classes accordingly. You can find her at Branches as well as throughout the community bringing yoga to the people. She has worked in schools teaching yoga through song to preschoolers, as well as with high school athletic teams. She has taught in many settings over the years including: a wellness center, library, farmer’s market, corporation, center for the arts, and a fitness club.
Darlene is a Reiki II practitioner and is certified in Whole Foods Plant-Based (WFPB) Nutrition. Her healing hands during a reiki treatment, or her guidance on how to alter your diet will also encourage holistic healing and improved overall health and wellness.
A patron of the arts, Darlene is also a singer/songwriter and performs in the St. Noel Music Ministry Choir. She is inspired by musicians such as: Donna De Lory, Lauren Daigle, Snatnam Kaur, Deva Premal, Elizabeth Mitchell and Wah! Her debut album, “Children’s Yoga Songs for the Classroom,” was produced in 2016. In addition to making music, Darlene teaches kids’ creative movement, tap, ballet and hip hop dance as well as choreographing for youth theatre.
She is a sales associate at Athleta, whose origin and reputation is in high quality yoga wear. She has a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and was a Historical Landscape Architect for the National Park Service for 18 years. Darlene is an avid environmentalist, nature lover, and foodie, along with being a devoted mom of a lovely daughter and a charming cat.
